South Stage Cellars celebrates Jacksonville’s 150th Anniversary by donating the entire proceeds of every glass of wine sold from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25th and Sunday, Sept. 26th to the Jacksonville Heritage Society. White wines will be sold for $4 a glass and red for$7.
We invite the public to come and enjoy the ambience of one of Jacksonville’s oldest buildings and our wine garden while they sip wine and help preserve history.
South Stage Cellars is located in one of Jacksonville’s oldest and most beautiful historic buildings at 125 S. Third Street. This was the home of Robbie Collins who spearheaded the drive to put Jacksonville on the national historic register. Due to lack of funds, about 5 important historic buildings have been closed to the public and are in need of repairs.
The newly formed Jacksonville Heritage Society is raising money to reopen these buildings which include the stately former County Courthouse and Museum, the Beekman Bank and the Catholic rectory.
Jacksonville’s importance as the early center of the valley’s agriculture and gold mining industries has been remarkably well preserved in its beautiful buildings dating back to the 1850’s. The many visitors to our region are finding Jacksonville to be a prime tourist destination for its history, its charming shops, fine restaurants and its wine tasting rooms.
The Jacksonville experience will be greatly enhanced by utilizing the buildings which are now closed.
The Heritage Society needs to raise about $750,000 to accomplish its goal and is seeking grants as well as direct donations. South Stage Cellars is pleased to help in this effort and we hope to sell many glasses of wine the weekend of Sept. 25th and 26th. SALUD.
